Richard Harrison MAPM, MIMS, PRINCE II Practitioner
Richard was formally trained as a communications engineer and served for almost 30 years in a wide range of public sector technical, managerial and executive communication positions. For many years he was a Senior Consultant with Defence Management Services where he was responsible for a number of major projects and evaluations including many crucial and sensitive reviews of Army and RAF planning and organisation. Following specialist consultancy training at the Cranfield Institute of Technology and a business management diploma from the University of Westminster, Richard has spent the intervening years as a Business Analyst, successfully employing O&M, OR, PERT and CPA techniques to a wide range of operational, logistical, administrative and financial based projects.
He was formerly the Operations Director of Lamb Business Services Limited and directed all of that Company's Market Testing exercises for almost 5 years before becoming MD of Zendik Business Solutions. He was the Company's most experienced consultant in the preparation and issue of tender specifications and tender documentation having successfully completed more than 17 major procurement projects under the Government's Out Sourcing Initiative. His knowledge of EC legislation, contractual law and contract negotiation complements his experience well and he was often asked to present seminars on specification writing and subsequently trained many MoD personnel in the subject.
Richard is a programme management specialist and has extensive experience of project planning; change management; facilities management and estates infrastructure rationalisation. He is also has experience of IT infrastructure projects and information management Systems. He has considerable experience of conducting feasibility studies, organisational reviews, cost saving exercises and value for money reviews. He has completed many assignments on behalf of government bodies including the National Audit Office, Home Office, Department of Trade & Industry, the Treasury, Scottish Office, Welsh Office, BBC and BBC World Service, the Defence Evaluation Research Agency, Public Health Laboratory Service, Benefits Agency, Child Support Agency and Charity Commissioners. He also has considerable experience of working with NHS trusts and lists Gloucester, Taunton, Worcester, Nottingham, Northampton, Rugby, Coventry, Leicester, Southampton and Derby hospitals among his portfolio as well as Guys & St Thomas' and Mayday Hospital in Croydon.
Richard is the MD of RH Associates and is a member of the Institute of Directors and the Institute of Management Services. He is also an active member of the Association of Project Managers and the Institute of Business Process Re-engineering. In addition, he is an experienced Management Services Practitioner, qualified by examination and a qualified PRINCE II practitioner.
